The Bloomsburg Middle School chapter of National Junior Honor Society is in its 2nd year at our school. If you are a 7th grader or 8th grader and have 93% cumulative GPA or higher, you are allowed to apply. Membership in this organization is an honor, and your application does not guarantee selection. A faculty council will review each application and make a decision. Our application deadline is March 10, 2017 for this school year. Students will be invited to apply based on GPA screening.

As a member you will be part of an induction ceremony in the HS auditorium, and you will participate in at least one service project for the school or the community per year. There will also be elected officers and several meetings per year to organize the group. Outside of the Scholarship/GPA requirement, the four components of selection include:

·        Service
This area involves voluntary contributions made by a student to the school or community, done without compensation.

·        Leadership
Student leaders are those who are resourceful, good problem solvers, and idea contributors. Leadership experiences can be drawn from school or community activities while working with or for others.

·        Character
The student of good character is cooperative; demonstrates high standards of honesty and reliability; shows courtesy, concern, and respect for others; and generally maintains a clean disciplinary record.

·        Citizenship
The student who demonstrates citizenship understands the importance of civic engagement; has a high regard for freedom and justice; respects the U.S. form of government (a representative democracy); respects the law for all citizens at the local, state, and federal levels; and demonstrates mature participation and responsibility in activities such as scouting, community organizations, or school clubs.
